Get the perfect brew with Cafe Concept

If you’re anything like us, our day hasn’t begun until we have had a hot brew in the morning to get us going. Most of our favourite coffee shops offer a variety of beans, brews and flavours to choose from, but why not treat yourself to your own homemade cafe style coffee in the comfort of your own homes?

We've put together a list of our favourite coffees, some fun facts on how they came about and how to make them with the help of some products from our Cafe Concept Collection.

'Espresso' yourself!

Did you know that an espresso is actually a type of strong black coffee that has been brewed under intense pressure. Its name is italian for pressed coffee which is exactly how it came about.

An espresso can be consumed on its own, and is used as the base for the rest of our coffee creations on this list.

Time for a 'cup- a -cino'!

A cappuccino contains the same amount of espresso as a latte but half the milk so it's the stronger choice of the two. It was named after the robes worn by the Capuchin friars in Vienna that were called 'cappuccio'.

A cappuccino is made of one part coffee, one part milk and topped with foam.

Better 'Latte' than never

The name latte is italian for 'coffee milk' and is one of the most frequently ordered coffee drinks in the UK.

A latte contains the highest milk content and is made of one part coffee, three parts milk and finally topped with foam.

Fa-brew-lous Flat White

Unlike the other coffees on this list that can be traced back to the streets of Italy, the Flat White actually originated in Australia and has since become a staple in coffee houses across the world.

The foam to espresso ratio in a flat white makes a great contrast from the rich flavour of coffee beans and creamy steamed milk.

A flat white is made with a double shot of espresso, topped with milk and finished with foam.

The Amazing Americano

An Americano is not just black coffee, it has one of the most interesting histories behind it. It first came about during World War II, when the American troops stationed in Europe would dilute the intense flavor of Italian espresso with a little hot water to make it taste more like the coffee back home.

An Americano consists of adding hot water to an already brewed espresso. Depending how strong you like your coffee, the ratios are one part espresso and two parts water
