Grow Your Own Indoor Herbs

30.04.15

Spring and summer is all about growing your own fresh produce and here at Typhoon we think that there’s nothing better than having your own continuous supply of home grown herbs. Add them to your cooking or as a finishing touch to meals. You don’t even have to have a garden, herbs will happily grow indoors on a sunny windowsill. There’s nothing better than snipping fresh herbs from a plant and being able to use them straight away!

Our favourite herbs to grow indoors include:

  • Basil
  • Chives
  • Parsley
  • Mint
  • Coriander
  • Oregano

To ensure a happy herb plant here are a few top tips.

1) Provide good drainage
Make sure you use a pot that has holes in the bottom so that excess water can drain out

2) Use the Typhoon Seasonings Herb Pot and Snip Set
This is designed with two side spouts for easy watering and features raised nodes inside the pot which will hold your herbs above the base so that they are not sitting directly in water. It also features a carbon capillary mat to ensure that herbs receive the right amount of water and to prevent it from going stagnant.

3) Use a good potting mix in containers to pot your indoor herbs.

4) Place herb plants in a sunny spot near a window. Ideally they need at least 4 hours of sunlight daily.

5) Don’t let your herbs touch the glass window if the temperature drops as it could damage the leaves.
